Our Observation Ethic

We believe the measure of a good birding day is how much you noticed and how little you disturbed.

Who We Are

Kexumisafar is a small independent team of birdwatchers, field-course volunteers and editors based on the North Norfolk coast. We write for people who have found birds fascinating and want to understand them more deeply, without feeling they must chase rarities or buy expensive kit to belong.

We are not a tour company and we do not sell trips. We are not affiliated with any reserve, conservation body or brand mentioned on this site.

Useful: a moulted feather shows a bird has been here. Insufficient: down feathers are rarely identifiable; leave them in place and enjoy the clue.

Principles We Write By

  • Welfare before the viewWe follow the spirit of the American Birding Association’s Code of Birding Ethics and local reserve rules.
  • Clues before namesWe separate what was observed from what was concluded.
  • Sources we can nameWe draw on published field guides, ornithological bodies and peer-reviewed tracking studies.
  • No sensitive locationsWe never publish sites of nesting rare or persecuted species.

Corrections and Independence

Birding knowledge changes as taxonomy and tracking improve. If you spot an error, tell us through Field Mail and we will review it promptly. We do not accept payment for coverage, and no destination or product appears here because of a commercial arrangement.
